Activists, Social Business and Web People

The diversity and expertise of Changemakers, Green Business Academics and Web n.0 Experts will in a rapid prototyping process create new approaches to addressing social issues and business interests – our social and business innovations are based on the ideas and values of next generation leaders, decision makers and entrepreneurs.

Social and Business Innovations

Our interdisciplinary and web-inspired thinking is the key to generating innovations within existing companies or to creating new sustainable ventures. Think of open innovation, massive group collaboration, CSR, green thinking, non-formal education and rapid prototyping designed to address social and business change.

Activists, Social Business and Web People

As much as we are treehuggers, we also understand sustainable entrepreneurship as an approach to adding long-term social and economical value. The question is: how and for what are you aiming for profit, and how do you generate it? We create value-based social and business innovations for social and business change.

Compete for Seed Capital Funding

We offer you the space to plant your ideas – our investors the resources to make them grow. It is a lot about the right people, the right place and the opportunity – and we provide you with all of these. But: You have to take the chance.

GEW 2011 and the SBSC - the race is on

Global Entrepreneurship Week

The Social Business Startup Camp SBSC is an initiative on the Global Entrepreneurship Week 2011 – our concept is aspiring and visionary: We are going to bring together a wide variety of people to leverage new startups and ventures that are based on the next generation’s sustainable values, ideas and knowledge. We call this diversity-based sustainable social and business innovations.

Vision + Web + Research = SBSC

The SBSC’s story is a little bit bigger: This is a social business startup itself. And the reason why is very simple – we basically came upon this idea that kept us thinking and motivated. We do know what we are aiming for: 7 days of intense startup incubation. We know what want: People and ventures that revolutionize and deliver long-term sustainable social and business impact. But what we’re still determining is how best to get there. We are web-driven – we believe in the connection of people and ideas and in this way we will share our project development online with you. Join us to learn how we use the web to incubate our idea, and many, many more, at the SBSC in November 2011! Get in touch at: teamsbsc@30dna.com

Concept

  • The SBSC is based on various concepts of non-formal education and tacit learning. We combine the best from approaches like the Art of Hosting (AoH), Barcamps, Diversity Education, Co-working, Crowdsourcing and Start-up Incubation. We facilitate your social capital to create social and business innovations.
  • The SBSC links social activists, sustainable entrepreneurs and social business academics, web developers and social media experts to include a maximum of diversity perspectives. Top-notch trainers and mentors will provide an one-of-a-kind learning and developing environment.

Process

  • The program of the SBSC is about the crucial "flip". The first two days are structured into workshops, open space sessions and science talks, providing an environment to share knowledge, ideas and experience. Spiced with some entrepreneurial learning, this part is all about social networking and getting ready for the Pitch. This is where the creative chaos starts: At the pitch we launch the Startup Camp with your visions and knowledge. You pitch your social business idea, you build teams, you kickstart your own social business.

SBSC Roadshow

  • The SBSC team is currently travelling Europe to recruit participants. And we have a big sympathy for people that can surprise us - meet us at on of these events or get directly in touch to pre-register your seat and learn more about how to apply for our co-creator positions.

We know the SBSC idea is kind of big, not to say super huge. 100 people, 10+x startups, trainers, mentors, investors, a super intense program, logistics, venues, experts and last but not least social+business innovations – obviously big words and many challenges to address to push the SBSC idea to life.

EYM2011 Follow-up

EYM2011 Pleanary Session

Time is moving fast these days – after returning from Cambridge Ignite the run was on to Tallinn to participate in the European Youth Meeting 2011 (EYM) on Sustainable Development. Wow what an event and what interesting people in the European Capital of Cultre 2011 - make sure to notice the EYM Webpage and note as well these nice links and people:

Next stop: Stanford, Sicilicon Valley, New York, wtf

It is a little bit of a wow situation how positive and supportive the feedback on the SBSC idea is - so positive to even take it to an international level (see the background paper). For this reason the next stop is Stanford to pitch the idea at RealAcad, before going to Silicon Valley to talk on technology partnerships (Ideas on that are highly welcome!) - afterwards the road leads to New York (more on this soon).

Sustainable bloggers - where are you?

Do you have a blog? Do you want to reach more people? Do you think sustainabiltiy is the right way forward? Interested in social business and a kick-ass event?

Global Entrepreneurship Week Kauffman Foundation

At the moment a lot is going on with regard to topics such as sustainability, green entrepreneurship and web startups, but what we’re missing is links! We are going to forge these links while building the SBSC as a startup itself. We think that the Kauffman Foundation Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) offers a perfect time frame in this regard: On the one hand side it is happening almost exactly eleven months after the idea of the SBSC initially was… fertilized (so to speak), on the other hand, since the demand and the positive feedback we’ve received until now is overwhelming we have to use the 2011 momentum to build even bigger things in 2012.
